Learn about how to create a whole new berry patch from just a little piece of wood. Participants will take home a red currant cutting to root up and care for.

Learn about old tools used on the farm and in the home for the past 200 years, then get creative at our crafting table.

General Skating Guidelines
Unless otherwise specified, the following guidelines apply to all skating programs:

1. All participants – must respect and abide by posted signs and cooperate with arena staff. Rules are modelled after Ontario Recreation Facilities Association Inc. Public Skating Guidelines (Sept. 2018).

2. Parents/Guardians – must be within sight and control of their children under 12 years. Do not leave children unattended.

3. Use of Helmets – CSA-approved hockey helmets are mandatory during skating programs with sticks and pucks on the ice, and must include facial protection for those under 18 years. Helmets are strongly recommended in all other programs

4. Keeping pace – maintain reasonable control of your speed, course and direction. Do not skate in groups. Do not stop where you obstruct other skaters. Accept responsibility for knowing the range of your ability while on skates; skate within the limit of that ability and as appropriate to the session in which you’re skating.

5. Food & Beverage Consumption – is permitted in the arena lobby and
spectator seating area only.

6. Games, Hockey Games, and Hockey Sticks – no games are to be played at any time that will endanger the safety and the enjoyment of others. This includes horseplay, hockey games, and the use of hockey sticks.

7. Shoes – ice skates required, no street shoes on ice.

8. Skating Aids – only permitted during the Beginner Skate.

9. Wheelchair Sledges – wheelchairs and sledges are welcome. Individuals using these devices must travel in the same direction as other skaters. Attendants/helpers are welcome to assist however, they must wear skates or ice cleats on the ice surface.

10. Technology – headsets, cell phones, cameras, or other handheld electronic devices are not to be used while skating.

11. Carrying of infants/children – children must not be carried by any means (such as on shoulders, in arms, or any carrier, etc.) while on the ice.

12. Sitting on Boards – patrons may not sit on the rink boards at any time.

13. Figure Skating – figure skating maneuvers are only permitted during open figure skate.

14. Chairs, Sleds, Strollers, and Pylons – are not permitted on the ice surface.

Wednesday, March 18: Hamilton Forestry - Visit the Forestry Edition of Discovery days! Young explorers can dig into the wonders of trees through hands-on activities and outdoor adventures. Participate in a guided tree walk, interactive invasive species game or sensory seed activity. Visitors can even create their own pollinator seed bomb or take home a seedling. Connect with nature while learning how trees grow and thrive.

Thursday, March 19: Hamilton Forestry - Forestry will be teaching the value of trees, proper potting techniques and planting instructions. There will be a crane truck and stumper, the operator will demonstrate crane operation and describe how the stumper grinds stumps, they will also have a log for participants to guess how old the tree is.

Friday, March 20: Hamilton Traffic - Traffic Signal specialists and Roadway Safety representatives will be on site to provide engaging, hands-on educational experiences focused on transportation infrastructure. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about traffic signs, signals, pavement markings and important roadway safety initiatives designed to keep our communities safe and connected.

Saturday, March 21 The Children’s Garden Project - Visit The Children’s Garden Project Canada Activation Centre featuring Let’s Get Growing Series and Paper Botanicals. Families can plant seeds, learn propagation basics and jump into hands-on gardening fun while exploring simple, kid-friendly lessons in environmental stewardship and how tiny seeds grow into thriving gardens.

Saturday, March 21: Hamilton Dundurn - Budding Scientists, Grow Your Own Berry Bush! Dive into the science of Spring while bringing dormant branches to life! Participants will explore buds and baby leaves with a variety of sprouting fruit trees and bushes from Dundurn’s Historic Kitchen Garden. Learn about how to create a whole new berry patch from just a little piece of wood. Participants will take home a red currant cutting to root up and care for.

Sunday, March 22: Hamilton Civic Museums - Explore children's pastimes of yesteryear and make connections between the past and present with fun and educational hands-on activities! Learn about old tools used on the farm and in the home for the past 200 years, then get creative at our crafting table.

Shop local vendors with fantastic handmade gifts. Enjoy door prizes and free parking and admission! The Easter Bunny will make an appearance from 12 to 1!

Dive in with your friends, challenge your coworkers, or even organize a company-wide team to make giant splash! 

This year we are expanding our prize packages for Best Costume and for Most Funds Raised!!

The C.Y.O is hosting our event at their beautiful and renowned Marydale Park. The C.Y.O is a non-profit in Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe that has empowered youth through sports, summer camps, and outdoor programs for nearly 70 years, ensuring all children - including those with special needs and financial hardships - can play. The fully wheelchair accessible 35-acre park has been made available for our event for the second year in a row!
This year, we hope to CRUSH our goal of $25,000! Don't forget, every dollar you raise will benefit more than 23,000 participants of Special Olympics across the province of Ontario, and many in the great City of Hamilton!! 

Located on the private 35-acre park will be: changing rooms, fully accessible washrooms, warming stations, large pavilion, warm drinks and food, vendors, and prizes!!

Our message this year remains the same: The City of Hamilton Supports Special Olympics!
