I hope you're on the nice list because Santa Claus Parades are in full swing this weekend!
Saturday morning kicks off with the Caledonia Santa Claus Parade! I'll be driving the 929 Grand Events Cruiser in the parade and some of our Grand team will be along for the ride! Things will get underway at the Caledonia Fairgrounds, run up Argyle Street and end at McKinnon Park Secondary School on Haddington Street. Grab your Reindeer Antlers to be “Reindeer Ready”, grab that hot chocolate and enjoy the floats while waiting for Santa to make his arrival!
I'll be making a stop over at St Paul’s Anglican Church for their Christmas Craft and Bake Sale. From 10 in the morning until 2 o'clock at 27 Orkney Street East in Caledonia shop the local vendors which include jewelry, holiday home decor, quilts and toys. The bake sale will have lots of delicious pies, cookies, breads and even frozen meat pies available for you to enjoy at the show, or to take home. Make sure you get your bid in on the silent auction and enjoy a hot lunch from the in house cafe!
Selkirk is the place to be for Saturday afternoon. A Quiet Time with Santa will be taking place from 2 in the afternoon until 3 at the Community Centre. Families that may have children with sensory sensitivities are invited to partake in crafts, activities and time with Santa in a calmer environment. Once A Quiet Time with Santa wraps up, An Afternoon with Santa beings until 5 o'clock. There will be lots of fun activities for the kids, hot dogs, hot chocolate, candy canes and one free photo with Santa! Admission to both of these events is free but you are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to local food banks. At 6 o'clock the Selkirk Tractor Parade will begin starting at Water and Park Street, turning west onto Main Street, and ending at town hall! Keep your eyes open for the Events Cruiser as well as many other creative floats and tractors brightly decorated for the Holiday Season! Bring blankets, hot chocolate and a big smile while you watch the parade with friends and family!
Start Sunday off at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Brantford at 12 Catherine Avenue. From 9 in the morning until 12:30 enjoy a delicious all you can eat breakfast for just $9 for adults and kids 10 and under $9. Proceeds will be supporting Brantford Special Olympics. While you're there grab a photo with Santa! He will be taking photos with families starting at 9:30. Pictures are $10 for each child or a family of two children for $15. All proceeds from pictures with Santa will be supporting Help A Child Smile. They work with families whose child is being treated or has been treated for cancer at McMaster Children's Hospital, to bring joy into their lives by granting “wishes” to the kids!
The Dunnville Public Library is holding their Annual Elves Shoppe until the end of December! They will be open until 4 o'clock on Sunday and will have lots of Christmas Gifts, holiday decorations, jewelry, toys, books and more for you to purchase! All proceeds from the Elves Shoppe go towards supporting the Dunnville Library.
Spend your Sunday afternoon at Whispering Hearts Horse Rescue at 1628 Concession 10, Walpole. From 1 in the afternoon until 4 they will be holding an open house with hot chocolate, raffles and draws for the kids, Christmas goodies and a meet and greet with the Horses! They'll also be selling Poinsettias, WHHR hoodies, toques, sweatshirts and their 2020 Calendar which features many of the horses that we rescued in the past year!
