Incredibly Amateur Dracula
On August 23rd, 24th, and 25th, Theatre Unmade, a new theatre company run entirely by youth aged 16-25 will have their first ever performance: a slapstick comedy adaptation of Dracula. Guelph youth Fin Janleigh and Nina De Vuono-Fraser founded the group at the start of 2024 because they saw a lack of theatre opportunities for teens and young adults in the community. They wrote a show and secured grant funding and support from the Guelph Arts Council and Guelph Little Theatre. Over the past several months a team of 20+ young actors, artists, and techs have been working hard to put together their production titled: Incredibly Amature Dracula. Preparations have involved professional stunt training, building effects props, and original music composition.
The show is a slapstick comedy about a group of amateur theatre people attempting to stage a dramatic production of Dracula. Unfortunately for Morgan, the over stressed and under experienced director, things go off the rails fast. Can this ragtag group of drama kids save their show or is it doomed to fail?
Fin Janleigh and Nina De Vuono-Fraser were originally inspired to write the show after previously working on productions of The Play that Goes Wrong and A MidSummer Night’s Dream. They wanted to create a show inspired by that brand of chaotic humor.
Incredibly Amateur Dracula will be onstage at the Guelph Little Theatre August 23rd, 24th, and 25th. Tickets are available on Eventbrite. Follow Theatre Unmade on Instagram, Facebook, and Tik Tok for more information.
